0 Chester, VA Chester, VA Part-time Full-time Part-time Full-time $23 - $27 an hour $23 - $27 an hour The Crisis Stabilization Counselor provides direct mental health care to non-hospitalized individuals experiencing a mental health crisis that may put their current community living situation at risk.
Duties and Responsibilities Provide one-on-one behavioral support services to clients experiencing a crisis jeopardizing their current placement.
Initiate and facilitate de-escalation techniques and strategies to assist the client in maintaining self-control.
Use good interpersonal communication skills to gain client cooperation and resolve conflicts.
Interact with all clients in accordance with the individual service plan and the therapeutic process.
Assess, evaluate and monitor the safety of the client and others at all times.
Exercise appropriate intervention in accordance with the least restrictive alternative to hospitalization.
Coordinate closely with other staff and community partners to ensure the appropriateness of treatment modalities and services being provided.
Serve as liaison to referral sources and parents regarding progress and needs; to include attendance of FAPT meetings, court hearings, etc as necessary.
Develop and implement plans for discharge including mobilization of resources for ongoing maintenance, rehabilitation & recovery.
Writes and submits discharge summaries by agency deadline.
Develop individualized daily progress notes and supporting documentation.
Maintain high quality documentation of all case work, completed in a timely manner and consistent with outlined program policies and licensure requirements.
Administer first aid to client in response to minor medical problems.
Notify Supervisor of any significant client medical complaint(s), unusual events, accidents, medical problems, property damage or maintenance concern, etc.
Provide support and linkage to community resources for participants.
Provide transportation through use of 15 passenger vans for participants to and from appointments toward the completion of the treatment goals and objectives.
Monitor mental health symptoms, compliance with medication regimen, health nutrition and physical condition of participants.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with other agencies involved in the care of participant.
Promote the program in a positive manner to elicit referrals and maintain census and growth of the program.
Maintain an accurate schedule of appointments to be reviewed at any time.
Submit a copy of all Restraint Forms and Incident Reports immediately following the incident and submitted to the direct supervisor or designee the same day.
Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills and Ability Experience in providing direct behavioral crisis counseling and case management in a clinical setting.
Knowledge of mental disorders, their symptoms, treatment and social implications in relation to participant and family.
Knowledge of therapeutic counseling techniques and ability to implement appropriate interventions.
Ability to implement individualized service plans.
Ability to evaluate psychological problems.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to maintain a flexible schedule.
Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Educations and Specifications Required Qualifications for Mental Health Professional - Adult (QMHP-A) a person who is trained and experienced in providing psychiatric or mental health services to individuals who have a mental illness credentials:
(i) A doctor of medicine licensed in Virginia; (ii) A doctor of medicine or osteopathy, specializing in psychiatry and licensed in Virginia; (iii) A masters degree in psychology from an accredited college or university with at least one year of clinical experience; (iv) A bachelor's degree in human services or a related field from an accredited college or university and with at least one year of clinical experience providing direct services to persons with a diagnosis of mental illness; (v) A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an unrelated field that includes at least 15 semester credits (or equivalent) in a human service field and who has at least three years of clinical experience; (vi) A Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Provider (CPRP) registered with the United States Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association (USPRA); (vii) A registered nurse licensed in Virginia with at least one year of clinical experience; or (viii) Any other licensed mental health professional Job Types:
